Kolkata Rape-Murder Case : To demand justice for the trainee doctor who was raped and killed at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata on August 9 of last month, thousands of people demonstrated on Sunday in more than 130 locations across 25 nations.
After starting in several groups throughout Japan, Australia, Taiwan, and Singapore, the protests spread to cities across numerous European nations, with sixty planned in the United States.
A sizable gathering of women gathered at Sergels Torg square in Stockholm, Sweden, to sing Bengali songs and carry placards calling for protection for Indian women and responsibility for the murder.
The British citizen who spearheaded the worldwide demonstrations, Dipti Jain, is a graduate of the Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital. She told news agency Reuters, “The news of this heinous crime committed on a young trainee doctor while on duty numbed and shocked each of us at the sheer ruthlessness, brutality and disregard of human life.” Jain led a demonstration in support of female physicians in the UK last month.
