District Collector Prem Krishna launched the chatbot project with the goal of resolving pilgrims’ problems and streamlining the pilgrimage procedure.

“The chatbot attracted 75,000 users in only 10 days after its introduction, demonstrating its broad acceptability and value among followers. An average of 5,000 to 10,000 requests are processed by the Swami Chatbot every day, demonstrating its effectiveness in meeting the demands of many pilgrims, the District Administration said in a news release.

A diet guide for pilgrims is one of the many ways the chatbot helps the devotees. To make things easier for the devotees, it provides information on the temple’s closure and opening times as well as updates on the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation’s (KSRTC) bus timetables.

“The chatbot has been quite helpful in providing emergency support. In order to ensure the safety and well-being of pilgrims, it has so far handled 1,768 emergency situations, the majority of which were medical crises. It has also played a significant role in reconciling missing individuals with their families,” the message said.

The district government of Pathanamthitta also disclosed that the chatbot’s enhancements would be implemented within the next week. According to the administrator, the chatbot would be able to provide devotees with real-time weather updates so they could arrange their visit appropriately.

“The District Administration of Pathanamthitta is dedicated to improving this service on an ongoing basis. We will be including weather updates into the chatbot’s functionality in the next week, giving pilgrims up-to-date information to aid in better trip planning,” the message said.

The administrator said that the Swami Chatbot is a part of their larger effort to employ technology to make the Sabarimala pilgrimage safer and more effective for pilgrims. Devotees may activate the chatbot by messaging “Hi” to 6238008000.

“The overwhelming response we’ve received demonstrates the bot’s effectiveness in improving the pilgrimage experience and assisting pilgrims in real time,” stated the administrator of Pathanamthitta.
