Karnataka: BJP continues protest against state government over inflation in several areas
Bengaluru: Karnataka’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is still demonstrating against the state government over pricing increases in a number of industries.
Leaders of the state’s opposition parties protested overnight at Bengaluru’s Freedom Park and continued to do so in the morning.

According to BJP MLC Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, the Congress administration has raised the cost of all necessities, and they want to stay in power based on the five promises that were previously made.
The BJP leader made fun of the state government’s ministers for shifting the blame for price increases on the federal government, claiming that only “irresponsible” officials could say such things.
“The Karnataka Congress administration is raising the cost of all necessities. On five promises, they hoped to run this performance for five years. Some state government ministers—I’m not sure whether they can manage their ministries—said yesterday that the federal government, not the state, is responsible for the increase in fuel prices. Such claims can only be made by careless ministers,” Narayanaswamy, the Karnataka Legislative Council’s Leader of the Opposition (LoP), told the media report.
Earlier on Wednesday, Karnataka BJP President BY Vijayendra criticized the state administration, claiming that the only assurance the government has put in place is a price increase.
“Inflation is the cause of the BJP’s day and night dharna… The government merely implements price hikes as a guarantee, and inflation affects the average person. We have demonstrated day and night because we are a responsible opposition party. The Congress party needs to revoke its decision to raise prices. If not, the general public will go to the streets and prevent the government from functioning. Vijayendra told reporters, “I demand that the Chief Minister and the cabinet colleagues visit the villages and understand the ground reality.”
The BJP staged a nighttime demonstration in Bengaluru’s Freedom Park on Wednesday to express disapproval of the recent price hikes.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was asked by Vijayendra to leave his air-conditioned chamber and take his ministers on a tour of the whole state, not just Bengaluru.
He used a historical analogy, saying that before enacting advantageous policies, previous monarchs would disguise themselves and engage with their subjects.
He said that Siddaramaiah ought to accompany Deputy CM DK Shivakumar on these travels if he was experiencing insecurity over his role.
The suspension of 18 party MLAs from the state legislature prompted Karnataka BJP officials, headed by LoP Narayanaswamy, to demonstrate outside the Vidhana Soudha on Wednesday.
Amid the current ‘honey-trap’ issue, the ban was put in place for six months, and the opposition has strongly criticized it.
“18 BJP MLAs were suspended with unprecedentedly strict conditions when they were peacefully protesting on the floor of the house,” said BY Vijayendra, the Karnataka BJP Chief and MLA, expressing fury over the suspension. What is this nonsense? Although we appreciate the Speaker’s position, the Speaker shouldn’t have acted as a state government agent and in violation of the Constitution.”
