Karnataka Assembly passed the Bangalore Palace Bill 2025

Bengaluru: The Bangalore Palace (Acquisition and Transfer) Bill 2025 has been approved by the Karnataka Assembly. After the Supreme Court ordered the state government to grant the former Mysuru royal family transferable development rights (TDR) worth Rs 3,400 crore, this Bill permits the state government to abandon parts of land needed for a road-widening project.

“I hereby give notice of my intention to move the following amendment to the Bangalore Palace (Utilization and Regulation of Land) Bill, 2025 (LA Bill No. 5 of 2025), namely Clause-3,” said the formal notification filed by Chief Minister and Finance Minister Siddaramaiah. The following will be added to the aforementioned Bill in clause 3, following subclause (5): “(6) Notwithstanding anything in the Act, if any compensation has been paid in respect of any portion of Bangalore Palace land pursuant to any order or judgment of any court, the action of the State Government shall remain protected.”

On March 3, the Karnataka Assembly’s Budget Session got underway. Prior to this, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had said that he would deliver the budget on March 7.

The Business Advisory Committee, chaired by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, approved raising state lawmakers’ salaries earlier on March 4.

The action is likely to cause controversy since neither the Congress nor the Janata Dal (Secular) opposed the BJP-led government’s February 2022 increase in MLA wages.

“The Assembly Session started on March 3. The governor will speak since this is the first session of the year. The speech will be discussed for three days. The budget will then be revealed on March 7. “I’ll speak at the end of the discussion,” CM Siddaramaiah said.

The Business Advisory Committee will determine how many days the Assembly session is conducted, the Karnataka chief minister stated.

Siddaramaiah also said that he met leaders when he visited the Vidhan Sabha. He said that the leaders of the opposition shared their thoughts with him.

The number of days the session should last will be determined by the Business Advisory Committee. Despite my knee discomfort, I had to attend meetings with many departments today. When I arrived at Vidhana Soudha, leaders arrived and shared their thoughts with me. All of their requests will be taken into consideration. He has previously said that the state government supports farmers.
