One of the most famous people in Indian film, Raj Kapoor, died in 1988, and the festival will commemorate his centennial. Kareena, Saif, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Neetu Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, and other family members gathered in Delhi to talk about the festivities that were coming up.

The Kapoor family were ecstatic to see the Prime Minister, as shown by the adorable photos Kareena posted on social media following the encounter.

Saif and Ranbir were also seen conversing with PM Modi in the photos.

The post’s high point, however, was when Kareena asked the PM for a signature for her boys, Taimur and Jeh.

Fans on social media were thrilled when the prime minister kindly scrawled “Tim and Jeh” on a piece of paper.

Kareena thanked everyone for the intimate gathering in an emotional message. “The Hon. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has extended an invitation to us to celebrate the remarkable life and legacy of our grandpa, the renowned Raj Kapoor, and we are very honored and humbled by the invitation. I am grateful for this wonderful afternoon, Shri Modi ji. We were very grateful for your kindness, consideration, and assistance in commemorating this milestone,” she wrote.

Additionally, Kareena provided information on the Raj Kapoor 100 Film Festival, which is scheduled for December 13–15, 2024.

“As we celebrate 100 glorious years of Dadaji’s artistry, vision, and contribution to Indian cinema, we honour the timeless impact of his legacy, which continues to inspire us and generations to come,” she said.

With tickets costing Rs 100, the festival will screen ten of Raj Kapoor’s best-known films in 40 cities and 135 theaters.

Film enthusiasts are excited about the film festival’s announcement, which will include screenings of classics including “Aag,” “Barsaat,” “Awaara,” “Shree 420,” and “Mera Naam Joker.”

The films will be shown at PVR-Inox and Cinepolis theaters around India after being remastered for contemporary viewers.

Ranbir Kapoor recently spoke on the importance of conserving his grandfather’s work at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2024, highlighting the teamwork required to restore Raj Kapoor’s films.

“It’s important we remember our roots–not just Raj Kapoor, but so many filmmakers and artists who have left an indelible mark on Indian cinema,” Ranbir said.

The films of Raj Kapoor are well known for their timeless soundtrack, social significance, and narrative. Audiences and filmmakers of all eras are still influenced by his legacy.

From his early days as a child actor to his subsequent success as a director and producer, Raj Kapoor, who is known as “India’s Greatest Showman,” had a career that lasted for many decades.
