Kalyan Banerjee slams Shivraj Chouhan over central funds for Bengal, accuses Union minister
New Delhi: Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Chouhan came under heavy fire from Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Kalyan Banerjee for allocating Central funding to West Bengal. Banerjee said, “We have been saying that Central funds due to West Bengal should be given to the state.”

“Shivraj Chouhan is against the Bengali people,” Banerjee said, accusing Chouhan of being hostile to the West Bengali people. They have been attempting, but failing, to establish a government in West Bengal. “They are not doing anything for the poor,” he said, accusing Chouhan of doing anything detrimental to the impoverished. A ‘Dalal’ for the wealthy is Shivraj Chouhan. He never did any effort for Madhya Pradesh’s impoverished.
In a protest earlier today, TMC MPs in Parliament accused the Union Government of stopping West Bengal’s MNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) funding. Claiming that the money are essential for rural employment and welfare in the state, the demonstrators chanted slogans calling for their prompt release.
Rahul Gandhi, a Congress MP and the Lok Sabha’s Leader of the Opposition, briefly attended the demonstration to express his support for the TMC. Congresswoman Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other opposition MPs from Kerala protested the MNREGA issue outside the Parliament building on Tuesday.
In accordance with the MGNRE Act, Congress MP KC Venugopal stated, “If the workers’ salaries have been overdue by more than 15 days, they should be entitled to interest. Regretfully, not all regions of Kerala provide MNREGA employees with their salary. The central ministry has not provided a specific response on this. The national government is working to complete this plan.
Venugopal emphasized that workers should be compensated with interest under the MGNREGA Act if their salaries were not paid for more than 15 days.
Many MNREGA workers in Kerala have not gotten their pay, he said, and the federal government has not responded clearly despite the problem being brought up. Venugopal accused the national government of attempting to terminate the MNREGA program.
