JEE Advanced 2025: This is the big update on ‘attempt limit’ for candidates
JEE Advanced 2025: A significant announcement on the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2025 was released by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur on November 5. According to the official announcement, there is now a three-year restriction on the number of students who may try the JEE Advanced 2025. Before this, there had been two attempts in two years in a row.
“A candidate may attempt JEE (Advanced) no more than three times in three consecutive years,” the official notification said.
What is the JEE Advanced 2025 age limit?
Applicants must have been born on October 1, 2000, or later.
Requirements for applying to JEE Advanced 2025
According to the official announcement, a candidate must have taken Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as required courses in 2023, 2024, or 2025 when they first took the Class XII (or equivalent) test.
“Candidates who had appeared in Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in 2022 or earlier, are NOT eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2025, regardless of the combination or number of subjects attempted/offered,” the official notice further said.
Additionally, it stated that “if the Class XII (or equivalent) examination board announced the results for the 2021–22 academic year on or after September 21, 2022, then the candidates of that Board who took their Class XII (or equivalent) examination in 2022 are also eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2025, provided they meet all the other eligibility criteria.”

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025 test schedule was released by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Monday, October 28, 2024. The JEE Main Academic Year 2025–2026 will be conducted in two stages, according the NTA announcement. The first session is scheduled for January 22–31, 2025, while the second session is scheduled for April 2025.
