The Sarpanch of a Kupwara hamlet, Jaffer Hussain Lone, claims that the Army has promoted development in a number of ways, such as by founding the Army Goodwill School.

“The Army has performed well here; the Army Goodwill School is one example. They have contributed to the creation of job possibilities. The severe winters here are made easier by the Army,” he remarked.

In the past, the Indian Army brought vital healthcare services right to the doorstep of the local populace by setting up a free medical camp at Murchiana hamlet in the Kupwara region of Jammu and Kashmir.

In order to ensure prompt identification and treatment of a variety of illnesses, the programme sought to provide medical support to residents. A group of skilled medical professionals performed examinations, gave out free medications, and instructed the villagers on how to stay healthy.

At the Bengdubi Military Station’s 158 Base Hospital, a unique cataract eye surgery camp is underway. On March 20, the camp was officially opened by Lt Gen RC Tiwari, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command. The camp is expected to “restore vision” for more than 350 veterans, dependents, and a few civilians, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Defence.

According to the government, this programme, which is part of the National Programme for Control of Blindness & Visual Impairment, demonstrates the Indian Army’s commitment to community welfare and healthcare outreach.

The programme, which is run by the Trishakti Corps, gives priority to the vision care requirements of active and retired military members as well as their families.

Similarly, two AK-series rifles, ammo, and other war-related supplies were found during an operation by security personnel in the Kupwara area of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Indian Army’s Chinar Corps and the Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted the combined operation at Badi Mohalla, Amrui, and Kupwara.
