Jaishankar met Bhutan King Wangchuk

On Wednesday, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar visited Bhutan King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck in Delhi and promised India’s unwavering support for Bhutan’s development objectives.

Jaishankar and Wangchuck spoke on the India-Bhutan partnership’s consistent advancements at the meeting.

Jaishankar said, “Called on His Majesty the King of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, today,” as he shared photos with the Bhutan King on X. spoke about the cooperation between India and Bhutan’s steady advancement. Appreciate his advice for its future development. Additionally, India pledged its unwavering support for Bhutan’s development objectives.

 

Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema Wangchuck met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier in the day after traveling to Delhi for a two-day stay in India.

PM Modi said after the meeting that they are still dedicated to strengthening the “unique and enduring partnership” between Bhutan and India.

PM Modi said, “It is a pleasure to welcome Their Majesties, the King and Queen of Bhutan, to India,” while providing information of his meeting with Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck on X. Respect His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck’s plans for the development of Bhutan and the growth of the region. We are still dedicated to strengthening the special and long-lasting alliance between India and Bhutan.

For their two-day official visit to India, Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema Wangchuck landed in New Delhi Thursday morning. At the New Delhi airport, they were met by EAM Jaishankar.

The Bhutan King’s visit to India would deepen the “unique bonds of friendship” between the two countries, Jaishankar said.

“Happy to welcome His Majesty the King of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, on his arrival in New Delhi today,” he said in a post on X. His visit will deepen our special connection even further.

Mutual understanding and trust are hallmarks of the special relationship and collaboration that exist between India and Bhutan. The MEA said before to the visit that it would provide both parties a chance to evaluate the full scope of bilateral cooperation and to further develop the excellent bilateral collaboration across a variety of areas.
