International Film Festival: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the festival
The Nishagandhi Auditorium in Thiruvananthapuram will host a spectacular opening ceremony for the 29th edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) on Friday, December 13 at 6 p.m.
According to Cultural Minister Saji Cheriyan, the festival, which will be inaugurated by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, is expected to be a lively celebration of international film.
Speaking at the event, Minister Cheriyan stressed that the IFFK this year would provide a unique cinematic experience for moviegoers with an impressive array of international films.
He said, “The festival will showcase a total of 177 films from 68 different countries,” emphasizing the selection’s global variety.
To accommodate a wide variety of film preferences, the festival’s official program will be broken up into many sections. There will be 14 films in the International Competition division, giving filmmakers a chance to show off their innovative work.
Twelve films that showcase the most recent advancements in the Malayalam cinema industry will be included in the Malayalam Cinema Today category.
To highlight current Indian cinema, seven films will be shown under the Indian Cinema Now segment.
This year’s World Cinema segment, which will showcase a carefully chosen collection of 63 films from various nations, will be a major highlight of the festival.
The Festival Favorites category, which will include 13 films that have won praise from viewers at significant international film festivals, is one of the festival’s most eagerly awaited offerings.
These films, which have received praise for their storyline, directing, and cinematic quality, are anticipated to be among the festival attendees’ top picks.
The IFFK 2024 will take place in 15 theaters in Thiruvananthapuram, offering moviegoers a singular chance to see a diverse selection of films from different genres and geographical areas.
The Kerala State Chalachitra Academy hosts the festival, which is still a major cultural gathering that attracts reviewers, filmmakers, and moviegoers from all over the globe.
