Indian women’s team gave a chance to debut leg spinner Priya Mishra in the second ODI against New Zealand
In Sunday’s second ODI against New Zealand, legspinner Priya Mishra made her debut for the Indian women’s side, donning the iconic Indian blue for the first time.
At the Narendra Modi Satdium in Gujarat, the leggie sent Brooke Halliday back to the hut for 8 runs off 15 deliveries, earning her a scalp on her debut.
In the second game of the three-match ODI series, she was credited with run-out removal of Lauren Down for only 3 runs off 19 deliveries, demonstrating her explosiveness on the field.
When the spinner was in her teens, cricket fans took notice of her as she established herself on the circuit while playing for the Delhi Women’s team.
Her impressive performance in the 2023–24 Senior Women’s One-Day Trophy, in which she took 23 wickets, made headlines.
The Gujarat Giants priced her away, but her eye-catching domestic achievements guaranteed that she would have a suitor in the 2024 Women’s Premier League.
Although she didn’t play a game for the Gujarat-based team, her skill was evident from an early age, and her outstanding performances for the India A team against Australia solidified the excitement around her.
