Indian athletes come together to mourn the demise of Ratan Tata
Ratan Tata Passed Away: Following the announcement that the visionary businessman and philanthropist Ratan Naval Tata had gone away shortly before midnight yesterday, a number of Indian sportsmen sent their sincere condolences.
The Chairman of Tata Sons, N Chandrasekaran, confirmed the news of his death at 11:56 PM yesterday night in a message posted on the Tata Group’s official account on X, previously known as Twitter.
“Mr. Ratan Naval Tata, a truly unique leader whose immeasurable contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the very fabric of our nation, is leaving us with a profound sense of loss,” the statement said.
Gagan Narang, the bronze medalist from India in the London 2012 shooting competition, said that Ratan Tata would be remembered for having impacted innumerable lives in addition to his financial success.
After learning of the news, Yogeshwar Dutt, a freestyle wrestler who had placed third at the London 2012 Olympics, also sent his sincere sympathies.
Neeraj Chopra, the best javelin player in India, shared a memory of the late Ratan Tata and offered the Tata family his sorrow for their loss.
The Tata family received condolences from NorthEast United FC, an Indian Super League team, via their official account. It should be mentioned that Jamshedpur FC is owned by Tata Steel.
Bajrang Punia, an Indian politician, freestyle wrestler, and bronze medallist, also expressed his sorrow on social media upon learning of Ratan Tata’s death. “He devoted his whole life to the advancement of his nation. Indians would always have a special place in their hearts for Respected Shri Ratan Tata ji, Punia said.
Viswanathan Anand, the first Indian chess grandmaster, also conveyed his sorrow after learning of Ratan Tata’s passing. While the two men accepted their Padma Vibhushan awards together, he thought back on his time spent with the visionary.
Rohit Sharma, the captain of the senior men’s cricket team in both ODI and Test formats, too expressed his sympathies. He praised the late Ratan Tata as “a man with a heart of gold” and said that he would be remembered for his contributions to improving the lives of others.
