In the Assamese area of Dima Hasao, the Indian Army sent a rescue mission to free stranded coal workers

Guwahati: According to an official press release from the Indian Army, a relief task team has been organized to rescue the stranded coal miners in the Umrangshu region of the Dima Hasao district of Assam.

Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, requested the Army’s support for the ongoing rescue effort.

The statement claims that the relief task team is made up of experts with the required gear, including divers, sappers, and other pertinent staff.

To ensure a prompt rescue of the trapped miners, senior Indian Army personnel will also visit the scene of the catastrophe to cooperate with civil authorities.

According to the statement, “The Indian Army has organized a relief task force to rescue the miners who are trapped in Umrangso, a remote industrial town in Dima Hasao district, Assam, after receiving a request for assistance.” Specialists with the required equipment, such as divers and sappers, make up the relief task force. In order to work with civil administration to ensure the miners are rescued as quickly as possible, senior Indian Army officials will also be visiting the location.

Rescue crews are on route to Umrangshu in the Dima Hasao district, where a number of laborers are trapped in a coal mine, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said earlier on Monday.

Sarma posted on X that the Army has been asked for help and that the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are en route to the mine site.

The precise number of laborers who are imprisoned is unclear, according to Sarma.

A number of individuals were reportedly suspected to be trapped within the coal mine in Umrangshu, Assam’s Dima Hasao district, according to a statement made earlier by Mayank Kumar Jha, the superintendent of police (SP) for the area.
