IMD issues heavy rain warning in five Tamil Nadu districts
In anticipation of strong rains in the next days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rainfall notice for five districts in Tamil Nadu. Poonamallee, Sholinganallur, Thiruporur, Vandalur, and Tambaram are among the districts that are on notice. On October 18, 20, and 21, the meteorological service has predicted sporadic periods of intense rainfall in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. In addition, the IMD issued an extension of its warnings to areas of south interior Karnataka, where rain is predicted until October 22. Precipitation is also possible for Kerala and Mahe on October 22 and 23.
Chennai is on an orange alert
Chennai has received an orange warning, indicating a chance of severe weather. The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre predicts that the city will have a partly overcast sky and that there may be some moderate rain or thunderstorms throughout the day.

The predicted temperature range for Chennai is 34 degrees Celsius at high tide and 24 degrees Celsius at low tide. Given the prediction for significant rainfall, the IMD has advised locals to exercise care and take the appropriate safety measures.
