ICG safely rescues injured fisherman from a boat off Pipavav coast of Gujarat

Gandhinagar: About 110 kilometers off the Gujarati coast of Pipavav, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) successfully rescued an injured fisherman from a boat. The Coast Guard reports that while fishing, the fisherman suffered a serious injury to his lower abdomen.

After receiving initial care from the ICG medical staff, he was returned to Pipavav Harbour without incident. There, in stable condition, he was turned over to the boat’s owner for further medical care.

“India Coast Guard Ship C-409 swiftly responded to a medical emergency at sea, rescuing a fisherman from Indian Fishing Boat Dariya Dolat, approximately 110 km from Pipavav coast in Gujarat,” the Indian Coast Guard said in a post on X. While fishing, the crew suffered a serious injury to their lower abdomen.

After receiving initial care from the ICG Medical team, the patient was returned safely to Pipavav Harbour and given to the boat owner in a stable state for further medical supervision.
The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) rescued 12 crew members from the sinking Indian vessel MSV Al Piranpir from the North Arabian Sea earlier on December 4 in a show of swift and well-coordinated action.

According to a press release from the defense wing, the Indian Coast Guard and Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) worked closely together on this humanitarian search and rescue mission, with constant communication between the two countries’ Maritime Rescue Coordination Centres (MRCCs) during the operation.Rough waves and floods caused the mechanized sailing vessel (Dhow) Al Piranpir to sink early on December 4.

The ship had sailed from Porbandar to Bandar Abbas, Iran. ICG’s Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) in Mumbai received the distress call and immediately notified ICG Regional Headquarters (North West) in Gandhinagar. The ICG Ship Sarthak was directed to the stated position right away. In order to warn nearby seafarers, MRCC Pakistan was also informed, and their help was promptly given.

In a different development, the India Coast Guard Regional Headquarters (East), Chennai, hosted the first session of the 21st Maritime Search & Rescue (M-SAR) Refresher Course.

The Indian Coast Guard said on X that 30 participants from ICG, INMCC, Bengaluru, and AAI are taking the three-day workshop offered by MRCC (East), which aims to improve SAR abilities and synergy with an emphasis on coordinating aeronautical and maritime operations.
