Holiday declared in schools and Anganwadis ahead of PM Narendra Modi’s arrival in Dehradun
Dehradun: According to sources, the Dehradun District Magistrate has proclaimed a holiday in schools and anganwadis in anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit in Dehradun on Tuesday to attend the 38th National Games opening ceremony.
In light of disaster mitigation, it is mandated that all educational institutions in the district observe a one-day vacation on January 28, 2025, in accordance with the authority granted by the relevant sections of the Disaster Management Act, 2005. According to the official notification, the Chief Education Officer and the District Program Officer of Dehradun have been directed to make sure that the aforementioned directive is followed in all educational establishments and Anganwadi centers.
Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially open the 38th National Games in Uttarakhand. Later, in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, the Utkarsh Odisha-Make in Odisha Conclave 2025 will be inaugurated.
The Prime Minister will launch Odisha programs at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar at about 11 a.m., according to an official statement. He will next go to Dehradun, Uttarakhand, where he will officially open the 38th National Games at about 6 PM.
During its Silver Jubilee year, Uttarakhand is hosting the 38th National Games in Dehradun, which will take place in 11 cities spread over eight districts between January 28 and February 14.
36 states and one union territory will compete in the National Games, according to the announcement. There will be tournaments for 35 sporting disciplines over the course of 17 days. Of these, 33 sports will get medals, while two will be exhibition sports. For the first time, yoga and mallakhamb are part of the National Games. The competition will include around 10,000 participants from all throughout the nation.
In keeping with sustainability, this year’s National Games theme is “Green Games.” Near the site, a unique park known as the Sports Forest will be created, where players and visitors will plant over 10,000 trees. Eco-friendly and biodegradable materials will be used to create the athletes’ medals and diplomas.
