Himachal Pradesh Government issues directions to implement Union Health Ministry’s advisory on HMPV

Shimla: To guarantee readiness across the state, the Himachal Pradesh government has issued orders to follow the Union Health Ministry’s Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) recommendation.

Dhaniram Shandil, the minister of health and family welfare, allayed public fears by stating that the virus poses no immediate danger and that it is a common respiratory infection that mostly affects small children and the elderly.

“Although there haven’t been any HMPV virus cases in Himachal Pradesh yet, we are ready. Panic is not warranted. This virus is widespread and has little effect. “People shouldn’t be scared,” Shandil remarked.

The state health department has notified all levels of healthcare facilities, from basic health centers to district hospitals, in accordance with directives from the Union government. Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) and all other healthcare workers have been told to be on guard.

“We are keeping a careful eye on everything. Appropriate action will be taken if persons show signs of respiratory problems,” he said.

The state health agency is stressing preventative precautions even if no particular alert has been issued about HMPV testing. Additionally, Minister Shandil urged everyone to maintain composure and take the appropriate safety measures.

“Every preparation has been completed. All hospitals are on high alert. There’s no need to be concerned if a case comes up. “We are ready to handle any circumstance,” Shandil said.

Concerns about foreign and domestic visitors visiting the state were also discussed by the minister. “We are keeping a careful eye on the number of visitors. Panic is not necessary. He emphasized that the state administration is prepared to address any problem or difficulty that comes up.

The minister said that while the state is still on high alert, no HMPV cases have been detected in Himachal Pradesh as of yet. The administration has advised people to be educated but not give in to disinformation or panic.
