Himachal Pradesh CM directed officials to include only genuine families in BPL list
Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, said Monday that the state would start the process of updating the list of BPL households in April 2025.
On Monday, he presided over a review meeting of the department of Panchayati Raj and Rural Development. He gave the authorities instructions to create new criteria and make sure that only legitimate households were included on the BPL list.
He gave the department until January 5, 2025, to develop these standards, after which the Cabinet must approve them. The public will be informed of the revised rules at the Gram Sabha meeting in January 2025.
In order to maintain openness, he ordered the formation of a two-member sub-divisional committee made up of the SDM and BDO to confirm the names of BPL households that the Gram Sabha had suggested.
He underlined the need for a strong system to identify worthy BPL families in order to ensure that they get the benefits that are available to them. Additionally, he said that the state administration is thinking about changing the yearly income requirement for choosing BPL households.
According to the Chief Minister, any complaints about the final lists of BPL households may be sent to the appropriate Divisional Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner, who will have the power to consider and resolve them.
In order to boost the economy of women, he added, a complete website will also be developed to showcase and supply a variety of items made by Women Self Help Groups to homes.
Senior officials attended the meeting, including Director Raghav Sharma, Secretary Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Rajesh Sharma, Minister Anirudh Singh, and others.
