Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini inaugurated the International Gita Festival in Kurukshetra
Haryana: Nayab Singh Saini, the chief minister of Haryana, officially opened the International Gita Mahotsav in Kurukshetra on Thursday. At Brahma Sarovar, CM Saini also said prayers in honor of the event. The International Gita Mahotsav will go on till December 11, CM Saini told reporters.
Today marks the beginning of the International Gita Jayanti Mahotsav at the sacred location where Lord Krishna delivered the Gita’s message. The celebration will go on until December 11th. This is our nation’s Indian pilgrimage place. This area is home to 182 pilgrimage sites. Together, our administration and PM Narendra Modi have renovated them, and efforts to move them forward are ongoing,” CM Saini said on Thursday.
According to the Haryana Chief Minister’s office (CMO), the International Gita Mahotsav 2024 would be held with great fervor in the holy land of Dharmakshetra-Kurukshetra, a location of significant cultural importance in India and the birthplace of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita.
The event will provide a magnificent fusion of art, culture, and spirituality. The magnificent event, which will continue continuously for 18 days from November 28 to December 15, will spread the ageless message of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita to the whole world.
According to Saini, the International Gita Mahotsav has been very popular and successful for the last eight years, starting in 2016. The Mahotsav is attended by thousands of people from both India and other countries. An estimated 45 to 50 lakh individuals took part last year, and this year’s number is anticipated to be comparable.
According to Haryana CMO, the Chief Minister emphasized that the International Gita Mahotsav was celebrated for the first time in 2019 in Mauritius and London, then in Canada in September 2022, Australia in April 2023, and Sri Lanka and England in 2024.
Saini said that the holy banks of Brahma Sarovar would host a magnificent Gita Mahaarati every day from November 28 to December 15.
From November 28 to December 11, cultural events will be held at many pilgrimage locations throughout the 48 Kos of Kurukshetra. On December 5, a Gita Yajna and Pujan at Brahma Sarovar will formally begin the celebration. Kurukshetra University will host a three-day ‘International Gita Seminar’ starting the same day. Purushottampura Bagh will host a saint sammelan on December 9 and an All India Devasthanam Conference on December 10 at the same site.
Chief Minister Saini emphasized that 18,000 students would recite the Gita globally as part of a Gita Yajna and Bhagwat Katha at Jyotisar Tirtha on Gita Jayanti, December 11.
Eight Kos Tirtha Sammelan, Gita Shobha Yatra, Deepotsav, and cultural events will take place at 182 pilgrimage locations inside Kurukshetra University on December 11. According to Haryana CMO, Gita book fairs and exhibits will also be held at Brahma Sarovar from December 5–11, much as in years past.
