“Good and positive” is how Eknath Shinde describes his first encounter with Amit Shah and Nadda
New Delhi: Maharashtra interim chief minister Eknath Shinde characterized the meeting with BJP President JP Nadda and Union Minister Amit Shah as “good and positive.” In order to determine who would take over as Chief Minister, he stated, another meeting will be conducted.
“The meeting went well and was constructive. The first meeting was this one. We had a conversation with JP Nadda and Amit Shah. There will be another Mahayuti gathering. The appointment of the Chief Minister will be decided during this meeting. “Mumbai will host the meeting,” he said.
In Delhi on Thursday, Mahayuti leaders Eknath Shinde, BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis, NCP chairman Ajit Pawar, and others met with BJP national president JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Shinde, Fadnavis, and Pawar departed the national capital late at night after the meeting.
The politicians convened to discuss the creation of Maharashtra’s new government.
Shinde had already reaffirmed that the Chief Minister’s position was unhindered and that the moniker “Ladla Bhai” meant more to him than anything else.
“I said at yesterday’s news conference that there are no barriers pertaining to the Mahayuti Chief Minister. “This ‘ladla bhai’ has come to Delhi, and for me, the title is more important than anything else,” Shinde said to the gathering.
On Wednesday, Shinde had said that he would support Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s choice of the state’s chief minister.
“I have informed the Prime Minister that there should be no delay in reaching a decision if my presence poses any challenges to Maharashtra’s government formation. At a news conference in Mumbai, Shinde said, “I will accept whatever decision you make.”
Additionally, Fadnavis said that there were no internal conflicts within the Mahayuti coalition and that the leaders would be consulted before a choice was taken about the Chief Minister.
“There has never been a difference of opinion in our Mahayuti alliance,” Fadnavis told the journalists. Historically, we have always decided as a group. We said before the elections that, after the outcome, a collaborative decision will be made on the Chief Minister’s position. A few individuals had questions, but today Eknath Shinde ji answered them. We will meet with our leaders shortly to make a final decision.
Although the results of the Maharashtra Assembly election were announced on November 23, the dominant Mahayuti coalition, headed by the Bharatiya Janata Party, has not yet decided on a chief minister.
In the 280-member Maharashtra Assembly, the BJP gained 132 seats, making it the biggest party. Its partners, the NCP under Ajit Pawar and the Shiv Sena under Eknath Shinde, won 41 and 57 seats, respectively.
