‘Full of lies, 4D exercise’: Jairam Ramesh hits back at Nadda’s letter

In response to BJP head JP Nadda’s letter criticizing his party for attempting to “sensationalise” the Manipur problem, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh tweeted on Friday that the letter was “full of falsehoods” and a “4D exercise” of denial, distortion, diversion, and defamation.

Reflecting the worries of the Manipur people, Jairam Ramesh posed a series of four pointed questions in an attempt to undermine the governing BJP.

“As soon as possible, the people of Manipur want the state to return to normality, peace, and harmony. They are posing four straightforward questions in order to achieve this. The prime minister is scheduled to visit the state at what time? 2. Given that the majority of MLAs oppose the CM, how long will he be allowed to continue to oppress the state? 3. When will the state pick a full-time governor? 4. The senior Congress leader said, “When will the Union Home Minister accept responsibility for his egregious mistakes in Manipur?”

Following Congress chairman Mallikarjun Kharge’s letter to President Droupadi Murmu about violence in Manipur, BJP national president JP Nadda blasted the party, accusing it of attempting to “sensationalise” the matter despite the state’s continued tension and turmoil.

In order to get “political mileage” and promote its “nefarious agendas,” the BJP head slammed the Congress and said that the party was fabricating a “false, incorrect, and politically motivated narrative.”
Angry with the Congress, Nadda said that the northeastern state had gone through one of the “bloodiest periods in history” when it was ruled.

According to the BJP chief, it is “worrying” that Congress leaders have been supporting and enabling a network of foreign forces to impede India’s progress. He questioned whether this failure is a result of the Congress’s desire for power or if it is a deliberate tactic to divide the populace and undermine democracy.

Nadda emphasized in the letter the tremendous change that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has brought about in the Northeast over the last ten years. He said that the region has made impressive strides in areas including the economy, security, healthcare, education, and access to development possibilities.

For the first time since India’s independence, he said, an area that was previously rife with daily gunfire and explosions is now seeing calm, prosperity, and progress.

Nadda also highlighted the Northeast’s strong support, as the people there have continuously placed their faith in the steadiness of the double-engine NDA administration rather than the empty promises of Congress and its supporters.

He listed enhanced connection and over ten historic peace agreements as major accomplishments. He also cited Manipur’s notable decline in multidimensional poverty, which went from more than 20% in 2013 to little more than 5% in 2022, as evidence of the progress being made.

On Monday, a number of Manipur MLAs issued a resolution outlining their demands, one of which was for the federal government to examine the state’s implementation of the Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA).

A major operation against the Kuki militants, who are accused of murdering six people in Jiribam, including women and children, must be launched within seven days, according to the decision. Additionally, it called for the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to take over three significant cases including the murder of a woman farmer, the burning death of another lady, and the murder of six innocent bystanders.

In their decision, the MLAs agreed to designate Kuki militants as a “unlawful organization” within seven days after the deaths of six innocent persons, including women and children.

This escalation follows the discovery of six bodies. The Manipur government first shut off internet access in seven districts in reaction to the event.
