“This situation should not have occurred, and it is unacceptable… The present Punjabi government’s immaturity is evident in this failure. Their inability to effectively manage the administration has come to light. Such occurrences continue to occur often in Punjab, but people are now aware of them because of what occurred with Sukhbir Singh Badal,” Channi told reporters.

“In both cities and villages, people are being threatened in order to extract money. The state is devoid of law and order. Our chief minister lacks the administrative skills that a leader ought to possess. The fact that people’s hatred and animosity for Sukhbir Singh Badal have suddenly surfaced is another clear cause of this assault,” he said.

Sukhbir Singh Badal, the head of the Shiromani Akali Dal, was the target of an earlier murder attempt on the grounds of the Golden Temple in Amritsar.

After Akal Takht pronounced Badal a ‘tankhaiya’ (guilty of religious misbehavior) in August for the “mistakes” and “some decisions” made by the SAD-led administration in the state between 2007 and 2017, Badal was performing seva at the Golden Temple.

As part of the ‘tankhah’ (religious penalty), the SAD leader was seated at the Golden Temple’s entrance with a plaque card around his neck.

Sources claim that since returning from Pakistan, the attacker Narain Singh Chaura has been under suspicion by intelligence services and has been associated with extremist groups.

“Central intelligence services had been keeping an eye on Chaura ever since he was released on bail in 2018.” According to the officer, the agencies informed Punjab Police of his whereabouts and actions.

According to reports, Narain Singh Chaura is a former leader of the Akal Federation and a hardline Pakistani terrorist who wrote books on guerrilla warfare and other seditious topics.
