Former PM Manmohan Singh’s family today attended the Akhand Paath held in memory of Singh at his residence

A ‘Bhog’ of the ‘Akhand Path’ honoring former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was hosted at his home on Friday by Singh’s family.

Sonia Gandhi, the chairman of the Congress’s parliamentary party, and Mallikarjun Kharge, the party’s head, were also at Singh’s home.

At the age of 92, Manmohan Singh died on December 26 at AIIMS Delhi.

A day after Singh was cremated at Nigambodh Ghat with full state honors, his ashes were submerged in the Yamuna Ghat, which is close to the Gurdwara Majnu Ka Tila Sahib in Delhi.

At the Gurudwara, the late former PM’s family participated in rites like as Ardas, Paath (reciting the Gurbani), and Shabad Kirtan (reciting the Guru Granth Sahib musically).

A wreath was placed next to the former prime minister’s mortal remains as a last act of respect by President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

According to Sikh customs, the final ceremonies were performed at the VIP Ghat.

Following their homage to the previous prime minister, Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, and Rahul Gandhi attended the cremation ceremony.

Over the course of his multi-decade political career, Singh held a number of noteworthy roles, including Finance Minister from 1991 to 1996, when he led economic reforms that revolutionized the Indian economy. From 2004 until 2014, he was India’s thirteenth prime minister, replacing Atal Bihari Vajpayee. His achievements to modernizing India’s economy and his steadfast leadership despite economic downturns are what people remember most about his term.

Singh led India through a time of unparalleled progress and worldwide prominence before retiring from public life after his second term. Following the Congress-led UPA’s defeat in the 2014 general elections, Narendra Modi took over as leader.
