Five people arrested for trying to influence elections in Delhi

New Delhi: A day before the national capital’s vote, Delhi police detained five individuals on suspicion of attempting to “influence” the assembly elections, according to authorities. According to Delhi Police, an inquiry has been started.

“We have caught five individuals from an outside state attempting to influence elections in the dominant region. “More investigation is underway, and legal action is being initiated at Tughlak Road Police Station,” DCP New Delhi stated in a post on X.

To guarantee a smooth election, Delhi Police have increased security measures.

“Every party has arrived at their polling places,” Special CP DC Srivastava informed the media report. They are positioning themselves to ensure that tomorrow’s polling process ends effectively. Free and fair elections have been made possible by Delhi Police. Anyone who has broken the law has been dealt with by us.”

A flag march was also carried out by security personnel at the Shahpur Jat hamlet, which is located near the Hauz Khas Police Station.

“With less than 12 hours remaining in the Delhi Assembly election polling, we have increased patrolling in the densely populated areas,” said Ankit Chauhan, DCP South. We are marching with flags. No evil force shall be permitted to interfere with the polling process. In order to prevent illegal smuggling, illegal alcohol, and entrance restrictions based on physical force, border checks have been stepped up. We use home guards, local police, and the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF).

“Social media cells have been established. We keep an eye on postings and reply right away. We have confiscated a significant volume of illegal alcohol and more than one crore in cash from the South area. Two commercial amounts of drugs have been found,” he said.

Joint CP Law and Order (L&O), Noida Shiv Hari Meena stated, “The Delhi Assembly elections are scheduled for tomorrow. Eleven locations in the nearby border district are being checked. There are also all of the senior officers present. The Delhi Police and I are working together on this check.

Vote counting in Delhi is planned on February 8 after polling opens on Wednesday at 7 AM.
