DMK held a high-level executive meeting today, 12 resolutions were passed
Over 800 high-level executive members and senior officials, including Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, attended a high-level executive meeting hosted by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) on Sunday.
The meeting was held in the party headquarters in Chennai’s Anna Arivalayam, and Chief Minister Stalin was there.
DMK leader TKS Elangovan, a former Rajya Sabha member, read out the resolutions that the DMK had approved, expressing gratitude to Chief Minister Stalin and the Tamil Nadu government’s ministers for their efforts to put preventative measures in place during the Cyclonic storm “Fengal.”
During the meeting, the DMK denounced the recent “derogatory” comments made against BR Ambedkar by Union Home Minister Amit Shah during the Rajya Sabha’s Constitution discussion.
In his speech to the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, Shah attacked the Congress party, claiming that the party’s use of Ambedkar’s name had become “fashionable.” “If they had taken the name of god so many times instead of Ambedkar then they would have got heaven for seven lives,” he said.
The Tamil Nadu governing party chose to reject the ‘One Nation One Election’ measure that was submitted in the Parliament and requested the disbursement of disaster relief funding for Cyclone ‘Fengal’. In its executive meeting, the DMK said that this approach was anti-democratic and ruined free and fair elections.
Regarding the Tungsten mining problem, the DMK also denounced the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). The party attacked the Union government for approving the bill to modify the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act and the AIADMK for backing the mining project.
This comes weeks after Chief Minister Stalin said that he would not permit tungsten mining in Melur, Madurai district, as long as he is the state’s chief minister, despite the federal government’s announcement that it had given Hindustan Zinc Limited the authority to mine tungsten in Melur.
During the conference, the DMK criticized the central BJP government for discriminating against the state that was doing well in education by not providing funding to the Tamil Nadu education department.
In addition, the party intended to win over 200 seats in Tamil Nadu’s next assembly elections in 2026. Additionally, the DMK called on the federal government to act to reclaim the island of Katchatheevu, which Sri Lanka had been granted in 1974.
