DK Shivakumar: Former State Minority Commission chairman Anwar Manipady is taking a U-turn due to political pressure
On Monday, Karnatka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said that political pressure was causing Anwar Manippady, the former chairman of the State Minorities Commission, to change his mind.
“I watched Anwar Manippady’s statements on the social media,” he told reporters at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha. He claimed to have sent letters to the Home Minister and the Prime Minister. In a tweet, the Chief Minister also cited his remarks. Let him reveal the paperwork before we do, and the records won’t disappear.” He was responding to questions about Anwar Manippady taking back his remarks.
“All facts are before us,” he said in response to a question about CM’s assertion that the inquiry must be turned over to the CBI. We’ll consider it once the CBI writes to the state government to request authorization to conduct an investigation. The CBI will not be given this. The BJP is requesting a CBI investigation because they are aware of this.
He said, “You are the one who is creating the confusion,” when asked why there is so much misunderstanding around this matter. Anwar’s remarks have been published by you, and the CM has also tweeted a quotation from him. To hide it, Anwar was forced to make a fresh statement. The media need to look into it.
“He should have said this earlier itself,” he added in response to a question about Anwar’s claim that Congress leaders had extended an offer to him. What good does it do to say it now? It matters more what those in positions of authority say.
In the last parliamentary session, BJP State President BY Vijayendra Yediyurappa had pledged to resolve bribery claims pertaining to the Wakf property problem.
“CM Siddaramaiah and the Congress party are making fools of themselves by raising the Anwar Manippady issue,” Yediyurappa said in response to the accusations. Since Priyanka Kharge, a minister, has claimed that I was willing to pay Rs 150 crore to resolve the Wakf problem, I will bring up this matter in the House today. It is my responsibility to respond to the question, and I will do so in the House. I’ll provide the House with the facts.
