Directed to expedite the corruption complaint filed against AAP MLA Dinesh Mohaniya
On Tuesday, the Delhi High Court ordered the Lokayukta to respond to the corruption case against AAP MLA Dinesh Mohaniya as soon as possible, ideally within four weeks.
During the hearing of a petition seeking instructions for the Lokayukta to take up the complaint against Mohaniya, the bench, which included Justice Tushar Rao Gedela and Chief Justice Manmohan, gave the ruling.
According to the petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Forum, the petitioner/society filed a complaint with the Lokayukta on January 30, 2020, asking for an investigation into the claims of corruption against AAP MLA Dinesh Mohaniya and any individuals involved in his collusion. The petition also urged that a report be sent to the Competent Authority for the necessary legal action.
According to the accusation, the MLA accepted bribes from Sangam Vihar residents in return for access to Delhi Jal Board water. His assistant allegedly collected the money from the locals and gave it to the MLA.
Videos and other evidence, according to the complaint, demonstrate blatant instances of corruption and official authorities, including the chairman and vice chairman of the Delhi Jal Board, failing to fulfill their duties.
The lawsuit further claimed that in order for residents of Sangam Vihar to utilize the public borewell that the Delhi government had erected and to get water from Delhi Jal Board tankers, they had to pay both the Delhi Jal Board personnel and the MLA’s close assistant.
