“We were confident that this will indeed happen,” Devinder Singh Babla told the media report.
Babla attacked Kuldeep Kumar, a councillor for the Aam Aadmi Party and the current mayor, accusing him of corruption.
“Mayor Kuldeep Kumar made up for everything else that was left by demonstrating that he was plundering the Corporation,” he claimed. We’ll ask about it.After seeing our behavior, their council members voted for us.
With 19 votes to the AAP-Congress alliance’s 17, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) officially declared victory in today’s Chandigarh municipal elections.
The AAP, BJP, and Congress are engaged in a heated electoral struggle ahead of the Delhi assembly elections.
BJP candidate Harpreet Kaur Babla defeated Aam Aadmi Party candidate Prem Lata in this race.
The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation has 36 votes in total, which comprises the votes of one Member of Parliament (MP) from the area and 35 council members. The majority required 19 votes in total.
At around 11 a.m., the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation mayoral election began. Three AAP-Congress coalition council members cross-voted against Prem Lata during the voting process, giving the BJP the advantage.
A FIR was also filed on corruption accusations against former mayor and AAP council member Kuldeep Kumar and his brother-in-law Rahul Chanalia just before to the election. This case concerns the alleged bribery in the municipal corporation’s contract hiring of sanitation personnel.
Ravi Birla, the complainant, filed a complaint on Tuesday via the SSP window, alleging that Rahul, the brother-in-law of Kuldeep Kumar, accepted a Rs 1 lakh bribe in exchange for a position as a sanitation worker but never delivered on the offer.
Ravi claims to have paid Rs 30,000 in cash and Rs 75,000 via internet channels. In order to bolster his lawsuit, he has also provided fifteen recordings and images of internet transactions.
The electoral mood was further heightened when the Chandigarh Police’s crime section filed a formal complaint within 24 hours.
