Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena has started an investigation into this allegation

Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena has opened an investigation into the claim that “non-government” entities are gathering personal information on Delhi residents in order to register them for the Mahila Samman Yojana, a welfare program that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has proposed.

The letter went on to say that the Commissioner of Police might order the field officers to take legal action against anybody violating people’ privacy by gathering their personal information in order to register for the AAP’s election pledge to provide Rs 2,100 to women.

According to the letter dated December 27, the Lieutenant Governor has asked the Chief Secretary to have a Divisional Commissioner undertake an investigation into the gathering of personal information and forms by non-government entities.

Additionally, the Commissioner of Police has the authority to order field officers to take legal action against those who violate the privacy of unsuspecting residents by gathering their personal information under the pretense of providing advantages. It may be recommended that DCPs take action against private persons who set up camps to enroll people fraudulently in government schemes.

Following a public notice from the Delhi Women and Child Development (WCD) department stating that the government had not notified Mahila Samman Yojana and that “no such scheme is in existence,” the Delhi LG issued the directive in response to complaints from Sandeep Dikshit, the Congress candidate for the New Delhi assembly constituency.

The letter went on to say that Congress candidate Dikshit has accused the AAP of committing a “fraud” and asked that a high-level investigation be launched into the situation.

The letter states: “This relates to a representation dated December 25, 2024, that was received from Sandeep Dikshit, a former member of parliament and the Indian National Congress’s proposed candidate for the Delhi Vidhan Sabha Elections, 2025. In that representation, he claimed that Arvind Kejriwal and the Chief Minister of Delhi had been announcing that the Delhi Government would provide every female in Delhi (over the age of 18) with Rs 1000 per month.

They have also said that they would increase the sum to Rs 2100/-pm if the AAP wins the 2025 Vidhan Sabha elections. Additionally, Dikshit has disclosed that they are requiring women to sign paperwork as they walk door to door.

“It is evident that the AAP is committing fraud, and Dikshit has asked that a high-level investigation be conducted into the matter in light of the clarification provided by the Women and Child Development Department, GNCTD,” the statement said.

According to the letter, the Chief Secretary may also use the Chief Electoral Office in Delhi to inform the Election Commission of India about this issue.

AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal announced the opening of registrations for the “Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojana” and the “Sanjeevani Yojana” on December 22, ahead of the February Assembly elections.

“There is nowhere for you to wait in line. To complete the registration procedure, we will visit you. At a news conference, Kejriwal said, “Teams have been established throughout Delhi to help women with registration and to give them cards.”

“To register beneficiaries for the Mahila Samman Yojana and the Sanjeevani Yojana, our team will go door to house. A Delhi voter ID card is required in order to register. “If your vote has been canceled, you can check on the website,” Kejriwal said.

The goal of the Mahila Samman Yojana is to provide Delhi-based women Rs 2,100 a month.
