Delhi Police has tightened security in the national capital for the Delhi Assembly elections
New Delhi: To avoid any meddling in the Delhi Assembly elections, Delhi Police have stepped up security measures in the nation’s capital. Before the election day, the authorities have held flag marches in various parts of the city to send a message of peace to the populace.
“The election campaigns have ceased as of today,” Ravi Kumar Singh, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) South East, told ANI on Monday evening. The route march and flag march have been expanded. We’ll work to keep the electoral process free from any intervention.”
Vishnu Kumar, an additional DCP from Rohini, stated, “Today’s flag march was held in anticipation of the Delhi Assembly elections. After 6 p.m., the election campaign came to an end. The cops are patrolling the area. It is being said in the region that you should vote and keep your cool. Participate in the elections.
Delhi Police claim to have a number of security measures in place, such as paramilitary groups, police officers, CCTV, AI-enabled cameras, and drones. In order to keep an eye on the state of law and order in the nation’s capital, Delhi Police also use face recognition technology.
On February 7, 35,626 Delhi Police officers and 6,525 under-training officers were sent out for election day duties.
Between January 7 and February 2, the police seized Rs 11,239,769.7 in cash. During this time, they also recovered 108,258 liters of liquor valued at Rs 3,59,65,843, which led to the filing of 1315 FIRs and the arrest of 1353 people.
In the course of enforcing the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for the 2025 assembly elections, Delhi Police’s Southern Range claimed to have surpassed prior records in terms of case registration and arrests earlier on February 2.
The Joint Commissioner of Police (JCP) Southern Range, SK Jain, claims that throughout the last 24 hours, there have been more seizures and preventative measures than ever before, exceeding the standards established before the 2020 Assembly and 2024 Parliamentary elections.
On February 5, voters will cast ballots in the nation’s capital, and on February 8, the election results will be announced.
