Delhi Police has detained 12 Bangladeshi nationals

New Delhi: According to an official, Delhi Police have arrested 12 citizens of Bangladesh who were residing in various parts of south Delhi without proper identity.

According to Ravi Kumar Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) South East, these individuals were apprehended from Nizamuddin, Kalindi Kunj, Shaheen Bagh, and Sarita Vihar. He continued, “They have been sent to a detention camp.”

Twelve Bangladeshis from various locations, including Nizamuddin, Kalindi Kunj, Shaheen Bagh, and Sarita Vihar, have been apprehended so far. They have been sent to the prison center after we arrested them. Every Bangladeshi we encountered had no identity, and some had lived there for a very long period. We’re looking into this further. We have a specialized team called the Bangladeshi cell that works on this. Nearly 1,200 persons have been vetted, and we plan to continue doing so as more information becomes available,” Singh told ANI.

In another instance, Delhi Police detained six individuals in response to accusations about phony identity cards, according to an officer. In relation to this issue, the electoral registration officer had filed two complaints against eight individuals.

According to DCP (South East) Singh, two FIRs were registered against the parties involved after complaints were received. Five people, including two middlemen, were detained along with the proprietor of the internet café.

“The Electoral Registration Officer, Okhla, filed two complaints against a total of eight individuals. There have been two FIRs filed. Following an inquiry, six persons have been taken into custody. Three of the six have also been detained, and two of them are intermediaries. The proprietor of the internet café who was engaged in creating phony voter ID cards has been taken into custody. The three defendants had fraudulently filed power invoices. They applied for voter ID on someone else’s bill with the assistance of the internet café proprietor,” Singh informed ANI.

He stated that the police were taking action in these situations and that more inquiry into the problem was ongoing.
