Delhi Police arrested a notorious robbery accused for attempting extortion
New Delhi: Following a gunfight during an operation to capture a known robbery suspect for trying to extort money in the Vikaspuri area, Delhi Police have nabbed him.

The accused, a 25-year-old resident of Indra Camp No. 5 in Vikaspuri named Akash Jha, also known as Monu, was hurt in the altercation and is now being treated at Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Hospital.
According to police, Akash Jha was just freed from prison in November 2024 after being imprisoned in 2024 for a firing incident in Mayapuri.
No official charges were filed against him, despite residents’ continuous accusations about his participation in extortion.
At about 1:30 AM on March 28, the West District Operations team conducted a raid after acting on information and locating his hiding place in Indira Camp No. 5, Vikaspuri.
Jha opened fire on the police after being approached, striking one officer’s bulletproof vest. Jha was hurt on his left leg, right below the knee, when the police retaliated in self-defense.
In Gautam Budh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, the accused is also sought in relation to the Gunda Act, having a criminal background that includes several robbery, shooting, and assault charges.
At Police Station Vikaspuri, legal action has been taken against him. We are awaiting further information on the subject.
Two Delhi Police officers were arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) earlier on Thursday for requesting and receiving a bribe of Rs 2.5 lakh from the complainant.
The names of the arrested suspects are Constable Shubham Gill and Head Constable Sanwarmal. They were assigned to the South West Delhi police station at Sagarpur.
On March 26, the CBI filed a complaint against two Delhi Police officers from the Sagarpur police station.
The accused and other authorities allegedly wanted a payment of Rs. 5 lakh from the complainant in exchange for the complainant not being implicated in the NDPS case. Following discussions, the accused consented to take a Rs 3 lakh bribe from the complainant.
When the CBI demanded and accepted a payment of Rs 2.5 lakh from the complainant, they set up a trap and apprehended both of the accused. Both of the aforementioned suspects were later caught.
