“Beds and mattresses are provided in this night shelter, and people receive food twice a day,” said a caregiver at the RK Puram shelter. In the morning, they get tea. Lockers are supplied for them. There are water heating machines available. If someone becomes ill, there is an ambulance available. There is a first aid kit available. Here, we have eighteen beds.

On Thursday morning, the national capital was shrouded in fog and a cold wave.

Dr. Soma Sen Roy, an IMD scientist, said earlier on Wednesday that the effect of western disturbances is expected to keep the national capital, Delhi, foggy on Thursday and the next day.

Dr. Roy emphasized the current meteorological conditions and noted that these western disturbances are predicted to cause a decrease in minimum temperatures.

She clarified that fog production is facilitated by a combination of calm and changeable wind conditions and enhanced moisture brought on by the western storm.

Additionally, according to Dr. Roy, the western disturbance has delivered a lot of moisture, especially from the Bay of Bengal, which has made it easier for fog to build.

“There has been a western disturbance in the last two days,” Dr. Soma Sen Roy told ANI. A new disruption has surfaced today. Although there hasn’t been much rainfall as a result of these disturbances, they have created a low-level cyclonic circulation that has brought in a lot of moisture, particularly from the Bay of Bengal.

Foggy weather and higher low temperatures are the results of this increase in moisture. Moderate to severe fog is expected to continue through tomorrow, as we had anticipated.

She said, “Western disturbances increase moisture levels, which are perfect for fog formation, and disrupt wind patterns, making them variable and calm.” We anticipate a return of northerly winds as this disturbance moves eastward, propelled by moderate snowfall across the western Himalayan area. Northwesterly winds will thus begin to impact the area. We predict mild to moderate to intense fog for Delhi tomorrow, and it’s expected to last for another day or two.”
