Delhi Congress chief raised this question on Kejriwal’s ‘ability’ to become CM
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s “eligibility” to stay in government was questioned by Delhi Congress President Devendra Yadav on Tuesday, who also said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader’s pledges were still “unfulfilled.”
Yadav stated in an interview with media, “I have a straightforward question for him: is Arvind Kejriwal qualified to serve as chief minister? Is he authorized by the court to sign the file?… He hasn’t delivered on any of his promises… He is limited to making announcements; will he ever explain what he has done?
Yadav’s comments coincide with mounting disapproval of Kejriwal’s leadership, with many doubting the efficiency of his administration and the failure to fulfill campaign pledges.
Following the Supreme Court’s granting of bail, Kejriwal, who had been detained by the Enforcement Directorate in March of this year in relation to the Delhi excise policy case, was released from Tihar Jail in July.
However, the court ruled that Kejriwal is not permitted to sign any official documents or attend the CM Office.
Subsequently, the AAP national convenor made the unexpected announcement that he was leaving his position as chief minister and that he would not accept the role until the people awarded him the “certificate of honesty” by ensuring that the AAP won the assembly elections the next year. He was replaced as Chief Minister by Atishi, a minister and party leader.
Delhi Congress leader Devendra Yadav attacked former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal earlier on Monday, claiming that the AAP leader would not be able to serve as chief minister if he were to win reelection in the Delhi Assembly elections that are anticipated to take place early next year.
Yadav accused Kejriwal of forsaking the public and informed media that he is now out on bail in the excise policy case.
“People are consistently deceived by Arvind Kejriwal. He speaks a lot, and he’s good enough at it. He was incarcerated in connection with the corruption case, and upon being granted bail, he was unable to visit the CM’s office or sign the documents. As a result, he left his position. He is betraying the nation’s citizens once again. He is ineligible to serve as chief minister, even if he is elected again,” Yadav said.
Shehzad Poonawalla, the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), had earlier attacked the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for its most recent pledges made under the Mahila Samman Yojana and Sanjivani Yojana, saying the party had failed to fulfill important commitments during its ten years in power in Delhi.
In an interview with media, Poonawalla criticized the AAP government’s performance on reducing pollution, cleaning up the Yamuna, and enhancing healthcare and education, calling the new programs “election promises” meant to garner support before the next elections.
“Despite their ten years in power, they were unable to eradicate pollution in Delhi. By 2025, they were unable to clear Yamuna. They used to speak about having wonderful schools and hospitals, but they were unable to implement them. They are now promising new things. For ten years, what were they doing?Poonawalla said, “These are merely election promises given to the public in anticipation of the elections.”
‘Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojana’ and ‘Sanjeevani Yojana’ registrations will open across the nation’s capital, Arvind Kejriwal declared on Sunday. The goal of the Mahila Samman Yojana is to provide Delhi-based women Rs 2,100 a month.
The AAP gained 62 seats in 2020 after winning 67 of the 70 seats in the 2015 assembly elections. The Congress failed to open its account for the second consecutive round, while the BJP increased its number of seats from three to eight. Early in 2025, elections for the Delhi Assembly are anticipated.
