Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will formally take charge at Delhi Secretariat today

New Delhi: Rekha Gupta will visit Vasudev Ghat in Yamuna Bazaar at 5:00 PM, officially take office at the Delhi Secretariat at about 3:00 PM, and then preside over her maiden Cabinet meeting at the Delhi Secretariat at 7:00 PM. At a ceremony at the nation’s capital, Ramlila Maidan, Rekha Gupta was sworn in as Delhi’s ninth chief minister.

Six additional leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were also sworn in as ministers on the Chief Minister’s recommendation.

Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta will begin her official responsibilities with a number of important engagements, according to a press statement from the Directorate of Information and Publicity, Government of the NCT of Delhi. She will go to the Delhi Secretariat to officially take office at 3:00 PM. She is scheduled to visit Yamuna Bazaar’s Vasudev Ghat around 5:00 PM. She will have her first Cabinet meeting in the Delhi Secretariat at 7:00 PM that evening.

The nomination of Rekha Gupta and her cabinet was already formally declared by President Droupadi Murmu. “The President is pleased to appoint Mrs. Rekha Gupta as the Chief Minister, National Capital Territory of Delhi, with effect from the date she is sworn in,” said a Home Affairs official announcement.

Additionally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Rekha Gupta on her appointment as Chief Minister of Delhi. PM Modi affirmed his faith in her leadership in a post on X, highlighting her rise from grassroots politics to the top position.

Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravinder Indraj Singh, Kapil Mishra, Pankaj Kumar Singh, and Parvesh Sahib Singh (Deputy CM) are the other six BJP politicians who were sworn in as ministers.

Top BJP officials, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President JP Nadda, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, attended the swearing-in event. Other states’ chief ministers and deputy chief ministers were also in attendance.

Rekha Gupta told reporters that her nomination was a “new chapter” and a “miracle” for women in politics. She pledged to maintain openness and punish dishonest people responsible.

“It is a fresh chapter, a new drive, and a miracle. There are opportunities for all women if I am able to serve as the CM. “Any corrupt individual will be required to provide an explanation for every rupee,” she said.
Gupta thanked the BJP leadership and pledged to work together with all 48 BJP MLAs to achieve the party’s promises.

The fulfillment of all the promises made by our party is my top priority, followed by the cooperation of all 48 MLAs under Modi.
