Delhi BJP leaders protesting near Arvind Kejriwal’s residence were detained by police
Police arrested Delhi BJP officials, including President Virendra Sachdeva, and party members Thursday when they protested outside the home of AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal.
The protest was related to the current ‘Sheesh Mahal’ controversy, in which the BJP has expressed disapproval of the purportedly extravagant renovations made to Kejriwal’s official mansion.
AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal was criticized by BJP politician Kailash Gehlot during the demonstration, who told ANI that the “Sheesh Mahal” problem was regrettable.
“We are here to express our disapproval of the ‘Sheesh Mahal’ problem. I made it quite clear in my letter to Arvind Kejriwal that it is really regrettable that a controversy has been sparked around Sheesh Mahal. “This demonstrates a compromise with the fundamental tenets of the AAP,” he said.
Gehlot said that people are angry about the absence of basic services and that he hopes the BJP will form the government in Delhi this time.
“I believe that the BJP will constitute the Delhi government this time. People in Delhi are upset because construction has not been completed; roads are destroyed, drinking water is not provided, and sewers are overflowing. “I have no doubt that the Delhi populace will ensure the BJP’s victory this time,” he said.
During the Covid-19 epidemic, when many public construction projects were put on hold, Arvind Kejriwal allegedly spent millions of rupees refurbishing his official property, which is at the heart of the ‘Sheesh Mahal’ scandal.
Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), left the Flagstaff Road house in Civil Lines on October 4 after stepping down as chief minister in September of this year.
But in October, Virendra Sachdeva, the president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Delhi, said that Arvind Kejriwal had “unconstitutionally” given Delhi Chief Minister Atishi the keys to his residence.
“You were attempting to into the bungalow without giving the keys to the appropriate department? You took your possessions in two little trucks and put up a fantastic show. Everyone is aware that you still own the cottage. You tried to turn over the bungalow to Atishi in an unconstitutional way. How can Atishi steal your bungalow when she’s already been given one? “I said.”
