“On the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri, I extend my heartfelt greetings to all my fellow countrymen and the people of Delhi,” Gupta said in an interview with ANI. May everyone be blessed with riches and happiness by Lord Mahadev. I ask God to continue to shower us all with his divine grace. “Har Har Mahadev!”

Gupta discussed the importance of the current Maha Kumbh, pointing out that it was the first time in 144 years that such a large religious assembly had been held and that the number of devotees attending had never been higher.

Over 65 crore individuals took a holy swim this time. The fact that so many devotees traveled from far and walked several kilometers to participate in the holy event was a very fortunate moment for the nation,” he remarked.

He went on to say, “I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for making such good arrangements for the Maha Kumbh.”

On the last day of Maha Kumbh 2025, which falls on Maha Shivratri, worshipers are still pouring into Prayagraj’s Triveni Sangam.

Today marks the end of the greatest religious gathering in the world, which started on Paush Purnima (January 13). To date, almost 65 crore worshippers have bathed at the holy confluence of the Saraswati, Yamuna, and Ganga.

The great night of Shiva, or Maha Shivaratri, is regarded as fortunate for spiritual development and represents the triumph of knowledge and darkness. It also commemorates the celestial union of Lord Shiva, the demon of destruction, and Parvati, the goddess of beauty, fertility, and love, also called Shakti (power).

Hindu mythology states that a variety of Hindu gods, goddesses, animals, and demons led Lord Shiva to Goddess Parvati’s home on the day of their wedding. The Shiva-Shakti pair is seen as the embodiment of strength, love, and unity. All around India, people celebrate Maha Shivratri, the festival commemorating their holy union, with a great deal of fervor and devotion.
