Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to visit Russian Federation from December 8-10

New Delhi: From December 8–10, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh is expected to go to the Russian Federation. The 21st meeting of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Military and Military Technical Cooperation (IRIGC-M&MTC) will be co-chaired by Rajnath Singh and Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov on December 10 in Moscow, according to an announcement from the Defense Ministry.

The two leaders will examine all aspects of the two nations’ defense-related relationship, including industrial and military-to-military collaboration. Additionally, they will discuss current regional and international topics that both parties find interesting.

INS Tushil, the Indian Navy’s newest multi-role stealth-guided missile frigate, will be commissioned by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on December 09, 2024, at Yantra Shipyard in Kaliningrad as part of the visit. According to the statement, Rajnath Singh would be accompanied to the commissioning event by Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff.

The Defense Minister will also honor the Soviet troops who lost their lives in World War II by paying respects at “The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier” in Moscow. Additionally, he will engage with the Indian community members.

The dates of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s next travel to India for the annual summit will be arranged diplomatically, according to the Ministry of External Affairs.

“We have an annual summit agreement with Russia. The Prime Minister traveled to Moscow to attend the most recent annual meeting. In the weekly press conference, MEA spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said, “The next one is planned to take place in India next year, specifically, and the dates for the same will be worked out through diplomatic channels.”

Kremlin advisor Yury Ushakov said on December 2 that President Putin has been invited by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit India, with dates to be determined in early 2025.
