Customs officials seize 117.00 grams of gold at IGI Airport
New Delhi: Customs authorities stated on Thursday that they had stopped a passenger on Wednesday at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in the nation’s capital, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, based on intelligence data.
Customs authorities claim that when the suitcase was being X-rayed, suspicious photos were seen by airport security. According to investigators, a silver-colored gold bar measuring 117.00 grams was found hidden in a cream carton when the luggage was further examined.
Based on information, Customs at IGI Airport stopped a passenger on a trip from Riyadh to Delhi on November 26, 2024, at the green channel exit. When the traveler’s luggage was x-rayed, several suspicious photographs were found. Following further luggage inspection, a silver-colored bar measuring 117.00 grams and thought to be gold was found hidden within a cream carton, Delhi Customs (Airport & General) reported on X.
Two weeks ago, customs officials at New Delhi’s IGI Airport filed a complaint against an Indian traveler who entered Terminal 3 on November 9 in relation to the smuggling of a drug suspected of being “heroin.” According to Delhi Customs (Airport & General), the accused was traveling from Bangkok via Kuala Lumpur.
The Indian passenger has been booked and 7.321 kg of suspected white heroin, valued at over Rs 29.28 crore, has been confiscated. According to authorities, he was stopped after crossing the green channel and heading for the international arrival hall’s departure gate.
According to authorities, a white drug found in seven green polythene sachets was found in the passenger’s trolley bag during the check.
The NDPS Act of 1985 included many restrictions that the aforementioned passenger had broken. Accordingly, authorities claimed that around 8 p.m. on Sunday, the passenger was put under arrest in accordance with Section 43(b) of the NDPS Act, 1985.
