Congress UDF in Kerala launches campaign for Priyanka Gandhi Vadra ahead of Wayanad bypoll
Kerala: The United Democratic Front (UDF), headed by the Congress party in Kerala, has formally started its campaign for Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in advance of the Wayanad bye polls that are set to happen next month.
KC Venugopal, General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), presided over the leadership convention, which marked the beginning of Priyanka Gandhi’s election campaign.
“The people of Wayanad who supported Rahul Gandhi are sure to give Priyanka Gandhi a historic majority,” Venugopal said.
All seven of the Lok Sabha assembly seats will have UDF constituency conventions on Saturday as part of the campaign. Leading figures will be present in these conventions, such as IUML General Secretary PK Kunhalikutty, Leader of the Opposition VD Satheesan, UDF Convener MM Hasan, and President K Sudhakaran of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC).
During the activities, committees for constituency elections will be established. In the Sultan Batheri constituency, panchayat conventions sponsored by Congress politician Dean Kuriakos have already concluded, while in Kalpetta, panchayat conventions in Mananthavady, headed by MLA Sunny Joseph and MP Rajmohan Unnithan, are slated to take place in the next few days.
By October 25, it is anticipated that all booth-level and panchayat election committees would be constituted. Leader-led house calls will start on the 26th and 27th.
Bye elections for 48 assembly seats and two Lok Sabha seats across 15 states will take place on the dates that the Election Commission of India (ECI) just notified. On November 13, the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat will be up for election.
