Congress to inaugurate new headquarters ‘Indira Gandhi Bhawan’ in New Delhi on January 15
New Delhi: According to a press release issued by the Indian National Congress (INC) on Tuesday, a major ceremony will be held in New Delhi on January 15 to launch the party’s new headquarters, Indira Gandhi Bhawan. On January 15, at 10:00 am, the new office at 9A, Kotla Road, will open, marking a significant milestone in the party’s more than 139-year history.
In the presence of Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, and Mallikarjun Kharge, the President of the Indian National Congress, Sonia Gandhi, the Chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP), will preside over the inauguration.
Prominent party officials, including MPs, past chief ministers, union ministers, and members of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), are expected to attend the event.
Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal announced the building’s opening ceremony on X, previously Twitter. According to him, Indira Gandhi Bhawan has contemporary amenities to assist organizational, strategic, and administrative operations in order to accommodate the party’s and its leaders’ changing demands.
According to X’s social media statement, “It’s time for us to accept the new and keep up with the times! The new AICC Headquarters, Indira Gandhi Bhawan, whose construction began while she was INC President, will be inaugurated by Hon. CPP Chairperson Smt. Sonia Gandhi ji on January 15, 2025, at 10 a.m., in the distinguished presence of INC President Sh. Mallikarjun @kharge ji and LOP Sh. @RahulGandhi ji. Senior officials will attend the August event, including past chief ministers and union ministers, CWC members, CWC permanent & special invitees, CPP office bearers, AICC office bearers, CEC members, PCC chiefs, CLP leaders, MPs, and more.
The Indira Gandhi Bhawan, located at 9A, Kotla Road, New Delhi, is equipped with contemporary amenities to facilitate organizational, strategic, and administrative operations and is tailored to the party’s and its leaders’ changing demands. The statement went on to say, “This iconic building honors the Congress Party’s remarkable past, which has shaped the political and social fabric of India, while also reflecting the party’s forward-looking vision.”
According to the statement, the Congress Party’s ongoing commitment to upholding the legacy of its founding leaders is symbolized by the new AICC headquarters, which is named after former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. According to the statement, the Congress has remained committed to creating a contemporary, democratic, and just India as the party that spearheaded the country’s independence fight under the direction of notable figures like Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Patel, and Mahatma Gandhi.

Members of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), permanent and special invitees, presidents of the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC), leaders of the Congress Legislative Party (CLP), members of Parliament from the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, AICC secretaries, joint secretaries, and heads of departments and cells are among the approximately 400 high-ranking officials who have been invited to attend the ceremony, according to the release. Prominent invitees include former chief ministers, PCC presidents, CLP leaders, union ministers, and AICC general secretaries.
