Congress MP Shukla criticised the ruling party over the Constitution dispute

New Delhi: Congress MP Rajeev Shukla defended Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Tuesday, claiming that the ruling party had misinterpreted his alleged comments on constitutional amendment.

Shukla said that Shivkumar and Congress President Kharge had refuted the Karnataka Deputy CM’s comments, which had been misrepresented before it was brought before the parliament.

“The comments made by DK Shivakumar were misrepresented in Parliament. The Congress MP remarked, “This is incorrect because the ruling party keeps saying the same thing, even though DK Shivakumar and Mallikarjun Kharge denied this statement.”

Shukla’s words coincide with a political dispute that was triggered by Shivakumar’s purported remarks that the BJP used to attack the Congress for proposing constitutional amendments to allow for religion-based reservations in Karnataka.

Manoj Jha, an MP for the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), had earlier on Tuesday commented on the controversy over the comments made by Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, accusing him of using them as a means of diverting attention away from more important issues.

“It is to divert attention from the key issues,” Jha told the media report, pointing out that the Karnataka Deputy CM’s statement was “distorted” to the greatest extent possible.

What was the most crucial matter for Parliament yesterday? pile of money (Yashwant Varma case before Delhi High Court judge). However, there were no talks about it. “You completely misrepresented someone’s statement,” the RJD leader said.

In addition, DK Shivakumar retaliated against the BJP, claiming that the party had misquoted him and disseminated false information.

Shivakumar said, “I will take a breach of privilege on this,” outlining his next course of action. I’ll put up a fight. They’re misquoting me,” he said, accusing the BJP of a deliberate effort to mislead.

In response to the Karnataka state cabinet’s ratification of an amendment to the Karnataka Transparency in Public Procurement (KTPP) Act that seeks to provide minority contractors a 4% quota in contracts, Shivakumar’s comments caused a huge controversy and garnered criticism from BJP leaders.
