New Delhi: In a letter to the Rajya Sabha’s secretary general, Congress MP Ranjeet Ranjan asked for a brief meeting to examine the escalating “air pollution” in Delhi.

According to Ranjan’s explanation, the city’s pollution problem has been for more than thirty years, with attorneys and environmentalists pleading with the courts to take action since 1995.

Every winter, worries about India’s air pollution make headlines because people there, especially in the national capital area, find it difficult to breathe clean air and get ill with respiratory ailments. Pollution in this city has been a problem for more than thirty years, and since 1995, attorneys and environmentalists have been pleading with the courts to take action,” the letter said.

A Congress MP attacked the state and federal governments, claiming that their “repeated failures” demonstrate their “lack of concern and action” on the matter after Delhi’s air quality remained in the “severe plus” zone for many days. She demanded immediate, strict action to reduce the nation’s pollution.

According to the letter, “The state and national governments’ lack of concern and action on the alarming issue is highlighted by their repeated failures to address this annual problem.” To supply the nation’s population with clean air, this necessitates immediate, strict regulations and cooperative efforts between the government and industry.

Ranjan emphasized the negative consequences of rising air pollution, stating that it has become a national worry and is causing a “health emergency situation.”

It states: “Air pollution in Delhi has remained in the “severe plus” category, surpassing 500+ AQI levels and even reaching 1200+ levels in several areas this month. Millions of deaths and illnesses among Indians have been linked to dangerous air quality in recent years, making the issue of air pollution a national one that affects several states and verges on a health emergency.

Today is the opening of the Parliament session, and the Waqf Act (Amendment) Bill is one among the topics that will be covered. The last day of the session is December 20. In observance of “Constitution Day,” the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will not meet on November 26.

In the meantime, Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) has fallen to the “poor” category after spending many days in the “very poor” and “severe” categories.

According to statistics from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi’s total AQI at 8 a.m. was 281, which is classified as “poor.”
