Congress MP Manickam Tagore urges NTA to extend last date for JEE Mains application

Tagore noted in a post on the social networking site X that thousands of students were impacted by server lag, especially in the last few minutes of submission.

“To @dpradhanbjp, last-minute traffic created server slowdowns that prevented thousands of students from submitting their #JEEMains applications. NTA must extend the deadline by a minimum of two days in order to guarantee equity and ensure that no candidate is left behind. “We must act immediately!” he tweeted.

A significant modification to the Class X examination system has been suggested by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), which will institute two board examinations annually starting with the 2025–2026 school year.

By providing students with more opportunities to raise their test results, the change is said to be in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and to lessen academic pressure. The Union Minister of Education presided over a high-level meeting at the Ministry of Education when the idea was considered.

Tuesday saw the introduction of a draft policy on the reform, which is now available on the CBSE website (https://www.cbse.gov.in). Parents, students, instructors, and schools have been asked to provide input by March 9, 2025.

Class X and XII board examinations should be held twice a year, according to NEP 2020, in order to lessen student stress and provide them more chances to do better. The strategy makes tests more flexible and student-friendly while promoting a move away from rote learning and toward competency-based evaluation, which lets students maintain their highest score.

The draft policy states that the first test phase will be held from February 17 to March 6, and the second phase will be held from May 5 to May 20. It is anticipated that over 26.60 lakh Class X students and 20 lakh Class XII students would sit for the examinations in 2026.
