Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi condemned the attack on Congress MP Rakibul Hussain in Rupahihat area of Assam
Jorhat: Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi said that there was a state of lawlessness in the state and denounced the assault on Congress MP Rakibul Hussain in the Rupahihat region of Assam. Gogoi attacked Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, accusing him of being careless and raising concerns about the message he was sending to the state’s citizens.
“The matter is being handled casually. The CM is grinning and laughing. He believes this to be a joke. What message is he trying to convey to the Assamese people? For this reason, people believe they are in danger and that a dictator is in power. “I condemn this attack and the CM’s timid behavior,” Gogoi told the journalists. He also asked what kind of chaos would have spread across the state if things had gone wrong.
“In the middle of the day in a crowded marketplace, you saw images of several of these criminals grappling with a police officer and attempting to take his pistol. Can you picture the chaos that would have occurred today if that criminal had managed to grab that machine gun and press the trigger? Gogoi asked.
Hussain was attacked Thursday afternoon when criminals forcefully restrained the Congress MP when he was traveling to Rupahihat for a meeting.
Swapaneel Deka, the SP of Nagaon, said, “Today at around 2.35 pm, we received information that Member of Parliament Rakibul Hussain, while he was travelling from Nagaon to attend a meeting in Rupahihat, was wrongfully restrained by some miscreants, confronted and tried to attack him…”
He went on to say that PSOs stationed in the vicinity dispersed the crowd by firing in self-defense and saving the Congress MP.
“He was rescued from criminals by the PSOs who were sent out. The SP said that one of the PSOs dispersed the crowd by firing into the air in self-defense during the incident. There is a filed FIR. Investigations are still in progress. He went on to say, “The PSO filed an FIR and investigation in the case is underway.”
