Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar accused BJP of winning
New Delhi: Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar said on Sunday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) used electronic voting machines (EVMs) and manipulation to win elections in Maharashtra and Haryana. Congress always tries to convey to the nation’s citizens that the BJP has a history of gaining power by any means, whether it is in Haryana or Maharashtra today.
We had unexpected results even in Maharashtra and Haryana.Election procedures are viewed with suspicion by our leaders. “What our democracy is doing with EVMs is hard to understand,” he said.
Kiran Kumar went on to say that holding elections with the EVM is unreliable and recommended looking for other ways to hold elections using conventional ballots.
“If any political party has doubts about EVMs in the next few years, we should talk about it and figure out another approach to boost everyone’s confidence. The Election Commission should reconsider; either we should use this technology or we should follow other nations that have switched from electronic voting machines to traditional paper ballots,” he said.
Kiran Kumar made these comments after a number of exit polls on Wednesday suggested that the BJP-led Mahayuti coalition will continue to hold onto power in Maharashtra. In Jharkhand, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) also seemed to have an advantage.
The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition was predicted by the majority of exit polls to do well in the elections but not expected to win a majority in the 288-member assembly. Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP (SCP) make up the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition, whilst the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP make up the Mahayuti alliance.
The Congress was able to get 37 seats in the Haryana state legislature, while the BJP secured 48 of the 90 seats. Election Commission statistics show that the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) won two seats and the Independents won three.
