Congress leader Sam Pitroda said- ‘Rahul Gandhi is not Pappu, but his views are completely different from that of BJP
NEW DELHI: Congressman Sam Pitroda has said that party leader Rahul Gandhi is not a “Pappu,” as he was frequently ridiculed, and that he has a vision that is different from what the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) advocates. Pitroda spoke to the Indian community in Texas, where Rahul Gandhi is now on a visit.
“Rahul Gandhi has an agenda that differs from the BJP’s, which spends billions of rupees advancing it. To be honest with you, he is not Pappu. Pitroda, the Chairman of the Indian Overseas Congress, said of him, “He is highly educated, well-read, a strategist with deep thinking on any subject and sometimes it is not very easy to understand him.”
On Sunday, Rahul Gandhi touched down in Texas to begin a three-day tour to the United States. The leader of the Lok Sabha opposition said he was looking forward to talks to improve relations between the US and India.
Gandhian ideas were the basis of our education while we were at school in the early 1950s. Diversity and inclusion were not just buzzwords; they were our way of life. Therefore, when I see shifts in our society that threaten its fundamental principles, I am concerned. Therefore, the goal is to ensure that we respect all of our citizens, regardless of their color, religion, language, or state. We provide everyone equal chances and respect for labor, and I’m glad Rahul Gandhi is fighting for these causes,” the speaker said.
Pitroda clarified that democracy is not something that can be taken for granted and is not that easy. “Democracy is not an easy task… Democracy needs a lot of people working, just like us. We must not take democracy for granted, since there are others who are intent on subverting it. We have seen that in several nations,” Pitroda said.
Pitroda was reappointed as the head of the Indian Overseas Congress in June of this year, effective immediately. Pitroda has drawn condemnation from a variety of sources in recent months for his divisive statements toward Indians of diverse ethnic backgrounds.
He said last week that Rahul Gandhi is more intelligent than previous Prime leader Rajiv Gandhi and had all the makings of a future prime leader.
Pitroda, a close ally of the Gandhi family, said as much in a Chicago interview with media before to Rahul’s planned US visit later this month.
He’s not your typical Pappu. He is very intelligent, well-read, and a strategic thinker on any topic.
“There was a strong independence movement at the period of independence, and leaders like Subhash Chandra Bose, Sardar Patel, Maulana Azad, Gandhi, and Nehru were extremely clear about the sort of country they intended to create. Everyone was aware of what freedom meant and the possibilities that would arise in an independent India. On Sunday, he said, “I want you to join the Indian Overseas Congress so that we can increase the caliber of our programs, increase the number of members, and attract a more diverse group of people.”
