Congress candidate Akash Sharma expressed confidence that people voted for change
Chhattisgarh: Akash Sharma, the Congress candidate for the Raipur South Assembly by-elections, said he was certain that voters had chosen change as the vote-counting process for by-elections in 15 states got underway.
Sharma said, “I have been stating the same thing from the day the Congress offered me the ticket: the MLA of Raipur South would be chosen in these elections, not the PM of the nation or the state chief minister. These elections were a contest between active and inactive voters. People in Raipur South, the BJP’s bastion, nevertheless lack access to basic amenities.This time, I have no doubt that voters have chosen change.
He said that he made every effort to contact every home throughout this election.
Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal were among the 15 states where the by-elections were held.
The results of 15 states’ by-elections and the recently concluded Jharkhand and Maharashtra Assembly Elections were counted this morning at eight. Trends are anticipated to emerge in the first few hours of the counting, which will determine the outcome of the 288 seats in Maharashtra and the 81 in Jharkhand.
The Raipur South Assembly seat in Chhattisgarh hosted the by-election. Brijmohan Agrawal of the BJP has held the seat for the last eight terms.
Thirty people are running in the by-elections for the Raipur South Assembly. After Brijmohan Agrawal resigned, a byelection was required for this Assembly seat.
In Uttar Pradesh, where nine assembly seats were up for election on Wednesday, the by-elections were hotly fought. Congresswoman Priyanka Gandhi Vadra made her first election appearance in Wayanad, Kerala. There were two stages to the by-elections.
Additionally, plans are in place to count ballots in the assembly elections in Jharkhand and Maharashtra.
