Cold wave continues in Jammu and Kashmir, Meteorological Department issued warning
Srinagar: Jammu & Kashmir continues to experience cold weather. According to the meteorological authority, Srinagar‘s weather is expected to be dry for the next several days.
A visitor from Jaipur named Vishnu told ANI, “It’s very chilly. However, there are many things to appreciate. I’m still feeling chilly even though I’m wearing a hat, jacket, and sweater. I doubt that the sun will rise.
A “lot of snow” had fallen in recent days, he said, and he welcomed everyone to come to Kashmir.
Another traveler from Kota, Rajasthan, Devendra, told ANI, “I go to Kashmir every year. This place is very frigid. Put on a hat and gloves and go exploring. All the facilities are accessible here. It costs a lot.
A visit to Dal Lake, a cup of Kashmiri ‘kahwa’ (flavored tea), and some fun were also recommended by him.
The Meteorological Center in Srinagar predicts that Tuesday and the days of January 8 and 9 will be mostly dry. Snow is predicted for a few or isolated locations between January 11 and 12.
Additionally, it has issued traffic advice to visitors.
“Isolated cold wave & possibility of shallow/moderate fog over plains of KMR & JMU during 7-10 Jan,” it said on X on Monday.
According to the prediction, the weather will be mostly dry on January 13 and 15.
The current temperature in Srinagar was 1.9 degrees Celsius, according to the Meteorological Centre Srinagar. It was 7.2 degrees Celsius in Pahalgam, 4 to 4 degrees Celsius in Gulmarg, 8.3 degrees Celsius in Jammu, 9.8 degrees Celsius in Katra, 0.4 degrees Celsius in Kupwara, and 4.6 degrees Celsius in Banihal.
On December 27, the first snowfall of the season fell over Srinagar city.
In the meanwhile, several areas of North India are still covered in a dense layer of fog, which causes delays for trains.
