On the significant occasion of Maghi Purnima, the night sky was lit by the sight of a full moon.
With over 48.83 million individuals taking a holy plunge in the Ganga till 0400 hours on Monday, the current Magh Mela 2025 saw a huge flood of devotees. 38.83 million pilgrims have visited the mela grounds overall, and there are now almost 10 million Kalpwasis residing nearby.
Officials report that as of February 11, 2025, there have been about 462.5 million devotees who have conducted snan since the festival’s inception. With additional auspicious bathing dates planned in the next days, it is anticipated that the foot traffic will continue to rise as the mela goes on.
To ensure that the pilgrims have a seamless and secure experience, authorities have implemented a number of administrative and security procedures to control the large crowd.
‘Maghi Purnima’ is being celebrated today, according to Additional Mela Officer Vivek Chaturvedi and his statement. This time, a surprising number of people have attended the Mela. The snan continues. There are a lot of enthusiasts visiting this place. Every preparation has been made.
“On the occasion of Magh Purnima, devotees are arriving here in large numbers for snan’…our preparations are really good…everything is under control…parking, traffic diversions, everything is activated…devotees are following the rules and regulations,” said Vaibhav Krishna, DIG Prayagraj, in reference to the notable number of devotees who came for the “snan” during the holiday.
A ‘No Vehicle’ zone has been established in the vicinity by the authorities to control the large number of devotees. Only necessary and emergency services will be permitted entry, and both private and public cars will be parked in designated lots. Furthermore, it has been declared that the Kalpavasis’ automobiles are prohibited.
Only emergency and necessary services will be permitted entry in order to protect the devotees. The city will begin implementing the special traffic plan at 5 p.m. today and it will be in effect until the end of February 12.
Beginning on Paush Purnima (January 13, 2025), Maha Kumbh 2025 is the biggest spiritual and cultural event in the world, drawing followers from all over the world. The spectacular extravaganza will go on till February 26th, Mahashivratri.
